Yesterday i went to a trail hike in the city called the "Beltline" Where you can walk or bike all the way from the Eglinton West Subway station, through Mount pleasant cemetory to the Brick Work - where there is a Farmer's market on Saturday and futher on to Castle Frank subway station ( a steep hill) before that - OK for hiker but hard for bikers. You can continue to the Riverdale farm where there is a zoo (free entry) and then continue to the distellery district if you wish for refreshments. The Beltline is a trail left by a railway which used to go around the old city. Most of the trail is quite shady even on a hot way. You can find the trail at the website for the city of Toronto. It is nice to know there are quite a few trails like this in the city for hiking on a weekend day and only take a few hours to do.
