Hey Sponge, it depends on what structure and wax you use. Too keep it short, brass brush are good for removing colder wax from fine structure, nylon are good for removing warmer wax from course structure. For starter you can buy a brass/nylon combo brush which will handle most of your needs. It is important to brush after waxing. Structure on your base that fill with wax will create unecessary suction that will slow down your ski, sometimes you may even feel the ski 'draggy'. Make sure you regularly clean your brush though, eventually the bristles will cloak up with wax and it won't do what it's meant to do.

I heard you're coming to tremblant, for real this time??

thanks boys, looks like it's important and I will get a brass/nylon combo brush, now, all of you mentioned that removal of wax, if you removed all wax, what's the point of putting them on in the first place?

P-tex is a material that can actually absorb wax. That's the point of hot waxing, you're actually pushing the wax into the base by using heat. Excessive wax on the surface are not needed. However, cold wax will need a higher temperature setting for the wax to properly sink into the base. So NEVER wax your ski with cold wax directly when your base is dry. Skis that are new, freshly grind/sturctured or with a dry base should always be prep with a few layers of warm wax first.
