to follow up on 265 (aman), my understanding that absorption is for speed control and minimization of upper body position variance, so ultimately each obsorption we do would be a balance of these two effort. On a scale of 100, if speed control takes up 90, body position control would take only 10, that means much more work would be done to control the speed, with the speed under control, body position/balance could be achieved relatively easier. ==> most of the time I put 90 on speed control but my body still goes all over the place, that simply tells that my 100 is probably 40 to 50 of the 100 that is needed, so 90 of 40 is only 36 which effectively means 64 effort on balance is required but only 10 of 4 = 4 is provided. this explains how jluo always end up flat on the side of the run.

The proactive absorption mentioned to lift legs is the motion of legs coiling up w.r.t the upper body, ie, upper body is a fix point in space and the feet/skis are particles moves/oscillates from close to far then close to the uppoer body. It would be an active attempt to avoid the direct impact and would provide a rather linear travel pattern (straighter) thus it is avoiding taking the effort to do speed control, and the speed will increase as we move down the slop, then greater effort on body/balance control is required ... to stay in control ... otherwise, well, I think we have all been there.

Some people do the opposite, which is fixing the skis as the reference point, moving the upper body pressuring the legs to coil. This would result in good speed control, sometimes too good, but demand much more on the leg, waist, and back. The motion is hard to keep up since the body is simply being drained of its energy. This is how most of us start skiing mogul and get tired within a handful of runs. Also, the upper body motion causes balance/cg to shift and may magnify the alright problematic balance control.

这两天看了些DVD, 最好看的不是 MSP的 Claim, 也不是 7 Sunny Days, 却是  Warren Miller 的 Ride 和 Storm,情节和滑雪交融得体错落有致
