I do not know Chinese ski terminology.  I learn most of them from this forum.  However I think Daniel got the closest:  Flex is "chuu" or "wat " (do not know how to write that word in Chinese but it is the first word in the translation of the cold drink Watson's)  and extention is "sun" like Daniel says.   One easy way to remember is the Chinese phrase "  big husband can flex and can extend"  (joke)  "Dai Zhang fu noun wat noun sun"   Of course that phrase can extend to women, and paricularly,  the skiing women,  in this day and age

wat - 是广东话“屈”的发音, 这个一定准了。  发表于 2011-2-13 10:51
我来帮snowspring 翻译广东话: chuu- 抽, wat-窝,缩的意思。 sun- 伸 。 如果不对, 就是我广东话没学好。  发表于 2011-2-13 10:50
Sun=伸? wat=弯?  发表于 2011-2-13 09:49

BTW I have also heard people use the phrase " tall and small"  or "short and long"  but the action should be with the legs with the upper body in a more or less contant position.

回复 snowspring 的帖子

Hi Jimmelon  you are right for "sun" but not the word wat.  " Wat"  is what it sounds like in Cantonese.  If you know the phrase Big husband can "wat" can "sun" in Cantonese  That is the word I mean.  The word you wrote is "wan" in Cantonese like bending.  Of course when you "wat"  you will be bending your knee but "wat" has a more subtle meaning in Chinese.  It also encumpass the notion of " being small".  I need someone who knows how to say that word "wat" in mandarin.  Help......

csea   you  got it!   You will win a Cantonese language prize!   The second one you wrote is exactly what I mean!  I did not know that you guys are not aware of the Chinese saying "Big husband can wat and sun".  That must be a Cantonese saying only adn mandarin speakers do not get that joke!
