Whitecrane Taichi skiing: last run of the season, 20-21
It seems only yesterday that I put out my first run of the season online and now it is the last run already? Time sure flies when you have a good time. It is a mild season, no big dumps, no extreme drought but the dry weather persisted, a few small snow storms have come by at crucial times to refresh the snow surface, so, there's no fantastic skiing but skiing remains good all season long; it is a good season. And on this last run, enjoyed watching three double-deckers thrashing ahead of us (rare), and a fancy maneuver of backward turning to fit the [turning] line @03:51 that was so artful; it was a good final run of the season. Another safe and sound skiing season has come and gone, amid covid-19 pandemic, we are grateful, for the years’ hard-trained disciplines.
Spring skiing is here. From the top Sky chair to Calbase is the longest [groomed] trail at Heavenly; we have chosen the easiest way down for the lull of that soft, smooth and slick spring skiing, and it delivered.
Whitecrane Taichi skiing: Canyonland and skycanyon, Heavenly
The trail is not new, but Canyonland was a high roller terrain park, so this line of skiing is seldom performed. It is a medium difficulty trail, Canyonland is easy if it is groomed, but Skycanyon is a lot more challenge due to its steepness and irregular shapes. Have fun meeting its challenge.
Whitecrane Taichi skiing: powder tree skiing on Dipper woods and glades, Heavenly
Making a first track, we didn’t intend to make the first track, but it appeared that we did. Given the foul weather and poor visibility, that was very brave of her, as she is not even a fan of powder skiing (she calls this powder “sierra cements.”)
I would rate this day, 03-12-21, a “perfect” skiing day. The snow storm that dumps 5” of freshies has moved on, left behind a sunny, light winds, and cool temperatures, beautiful weather, “perfect” for skiing. The snow on the groomed trails is smooth, soft and no ice, and in the trees/fields the powder is soft, firm and no hard bottoms, it is powder skiing all around. It is a “perfect” powder day, only wishing my aging legs could be stronger.

With recent snow storms Heavenly’s skiing conditions have improved quite a bit, this new route, off the beaten path, is more interesting to go home with.
