Yes I have taken many pictures but I will enter them when I return. I have been in Madrid for 2 d ...
Thanks guys for keeping in touch. I feel like in a different world and it is. Spain is very impressive to me. I learn so much coming to Madrid. I know very little about the history of Spain but I can see the grandeur of the Spanish imperial empire in the old days in Madrid and its relations with the other European powers. The empire it has in America - mostly central and sourth amercia is enormous and it was one of the strongest powers during Columbus´s time. It has a unique culture and the domininance of the Catholic religion. Its struggle agianst the Moors of Islamic faith. The stories are so many and so fascinating. Madrid is very safe - full of police presence. I have been warned about petty crimes but I do not see it in Madrid. The Palace Real I saw is definitely one of the most ornamented in Europe - however they have very strict rules about photography and I cannot take pictues of the inside of the museum. The decorations are exiquisite. There are so many kings and queens that I get their names and relationships all mixed up. I do see quite a quite Chinese tourist in Madrid. I went to a shop run by Chinese ( mandarin speaking). Spaniards are proud and have a fiery temperament. They are open and lovely and it must be the influence of the sun. It is hot and dry in Madrid but it was wet and cool in Santiago. The Cathedral of Madrid is magnificent. Right next to the palace. I also visited their museum at the National Library - it has a display of Da Vinci´s drawing and echeting. The museums for art I visited three of the them and each one is a national treasure. Spain has produced some of the most influencial artists in the Western world - from Velasque to Goya to Picasso to Dali to Miro... Art is Spain´s heritage. I find Barcelona not comparable to Madrid in terms of its richness in archetecture and heritage even though it has the Gaudi archetecture. Madrid is really magnificent and I find the travel books did not emphasis its greatness as a European destination. Anyway I am homeward bound - it is my last night here. See you soon.

I just retunred home safely. Exhausted. All the walking and sight seeing. Will take care of the photos soon and put something out. Totally worth it and earned it.
Try if picture can be attached. OK it seems to be working. I can put more pictures in now. The first picture just shows some of the farm/country houses we passed through. The cabbage is special for Galicia and is used to make the Galician soup - the pilgrim's soup with potato and is very delicious.
More pictures coming. But I am kind of clumsy. Here is picture of country side near Sarria taken just next to an old Church. I dropped some of Warp's ashes here.

This is the Monument built on top of a mountain when you descend to go to Santiago. There is an old church and it goes downhill from here. The Pope visited this place ( forgot when) and they therefore built the monument.
Next picture is where my hiking boot fell apart on the 7th (or 8th day) day of continuous hiking. I used a lanyard to tie it back on the trail and it made to the hotel. Luckily I brought along another pair of boots! God is on my side.
Milestone showing 103 km to Santiago. You see this very often and people put stone on it. I put Warp's ashes on it. people also decorate it with flowers and sometimes broken boots.
