2012 Canada day events in Montreal
Downtown:
The Canada Day Parade, which goes along Ste. Catherine St. from Fort to Peel St. It starts at 11 a.m. and there will be fun activities in the afternoon at Place du Canada, 1010 de la Gauchetiere St. W.
Between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., the parade wraps up at Place du Canada and a huge cake measuring 1.22 metres by 2.44 metres (4' by 8') is served -- it's expected to feed up to 2,500 people -- along with free coffee and free iced coffee for all. The afternoon then proceeds with live shows, concerts and more, including a colorful dragon dance courtesy of Montreal's Chinese community. There will also be inflatable games for kids on site. All activities, cake and coffee are free of charge.

Protocolar ceremony and marching band : 11h00 à 12h00
Five new Canadian families will be sworn in. The parade and the military marching band from the Canadian Armed Forces will highlight the raising of the flag ceremony, followed by the national anthem.
Canada Day cake : from 12 am until all pieces have been distributed
The new Canadian citizens and the audience will be invited to share the two thousand pieces of the traditional Canada Day cake.
Cannons : From 12 am to 4 pm
The traditional 21 shots of cannon.
Inflatable game village : From 12 am to 8 pm
Colorful games overseen by a safety committee. Among others, an obstacle course, sliding/climbing, the Waki slide, the Princess, the Bull Dog, the Extreme Emergency and the Princess Palace. Entertainers and make-up workshops will also delight children.
Pierre Lavoie Challenge convertible trailer, animation and fitness room : From 12 am to 8 pm
Kids are invited to use fitness equipment and to learn the basics behind healthy eating habits using interactive games.
Eco'Squad : From 12 am to 8 pm
Alzado : From 12 am to 8 pm
Danse and music : From 1 pm to 8 pm by AnimaFun
Line dancing to a track that can accommodate 500 people. Come learn and dance Zorbas, Cab Driver, Electric Slide, Tortuga, Ques Queno, Techno Latino, Electro Salsa.

Canada Quiz : From 1 am to 8 pm by AnimaFun
Evening show : From 9 pm to 10:15 pm with Nile Seguin and Alter Ego by Evenko

Expect a mind-blowing storytelling event with Canadian humorist Nile Seguin.
Alter Ego is a group of well-experienced musicians. The group is composed of three male singers and two female singers, all endowed with truly impressive voices. Specializing in the covers of 1970 to 2000 greatest hits, they have performed all around the world, from Abitibi to China, and from Québec to Atlantic City. Make sure you wear your most comfortable shoes so you can dance all night!
