Title:  System Safety Specialist

Status : Permanent

Location : Montréal



Job purpose:

The position holder will be responsible for Safety / Reliability aspects for all Flight Controls projects at ThalesCanada.



Main tasks:                                                                                       

    Participate in development of TCA R&D Flight Control Systems to ensure that solutions meet Safety and Reliability requirements and Industry standards;
    Plan and execute activities related to Safety and Reliability of Flight Control Systems ;
    Prepare Safety and Reliability documents required for certification : PSSA, FTA, SSA, FMEA, …;
    Interface with suppliers to ensure that Safety data provided (FMEA or other documents) meet our requirements and allow preparing system level documents ;
    Represent TCA R&D in discussions with customers and Certification Authorities, whenever subjects are related to Safety and Reliability ;
    Re-enforce the group’s Safety culture in the development of critical systems;
    Participate in comitees such as SAE related to Safety subjects.

Desired Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

    University degree in Electrical Engineering of Aeronautical Engineering ;
    A minimum of 5 years experience in the Safety and Reliability aspects of Avionics or Flight Controls development;
    Stong knowledge of techniques used to produce Safety and Reliability documents in the Aeronautical field;
    Experience on Flight Controls systems or other Flight Critical applications;
    Capacity to analyse electronic and logic diagrams in order to understand their impact on system behavior and safety;
    Knowledge of Industry standards related to System development and Safety analysis such as SAE ARP 4754, SAE ARP 4761;
    Strong team player ;
    Strong problem solver;
    Autonomous and quick learner ;
    Strong oral and written communication skills;
    Bilingual French / English.
