Purpose:
Within the OBIS Maintenance & Support Team, this role Partners with IT and assigned business line(s) to assess, research, analyze and document business and systems needs in order to resolve business systems issues by recommending business solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs.
Context is small to large development or maintenance projects (multiple projects - one application with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties).
All responsibilities carried out in accordance with Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to Privacy principles
Primary Responsibilities:
Business Analysis & Consulting
Ensures that all change requests arriving via a defined "in take" process are thoroughly researched in terms of scope, magnitude, and cost, thus allowing for a structured prioritization of work within the Business as Usual environment.
Works closely with the Change Management PM to prioritize and schedule all work to be included in quarterly planned releases
Provides consulting services to business partners on new initiatives (small to large of varying complexity).
Develops proposals for small to medium projects.
Leads detailed requirement phases identifying, tracking, escalating and/or resolving business systems issues.
Assesses, researches, analyzes and documents sponsor/stakeholder needs in accordance with Project Life Cycle and CMM deliverables utilizing reporting tools, requirements. Identifies, tracks and resolves business systems issues.
Recommends business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for clients.
Together with Project Manager, determines best mix of development, interfacing applications, third party vendor solutions to meet business requirements and project objectives.
Ensures adequate end user documentation and training.
Contributes to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies.
Planning & Testing
Plans and co-ordinates all QA and PIV testing for change activities to be introduced into the OBIS Business as Usual environment.
Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of Requirements and Acceptance phases of projects
Develops test plans and executes testing including leading the systems and acceptance testing by facilitating participation of appropriate staff in project completion.
Relationships & Communication
Develops criteria for and participates in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises.
Manages the detail aspects of day-to-day operations with 3rd party vendors.
Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
Facilitates small to large meetings and conducts information gathering sessions (e.g. JAD).
Prepares and delivers presentations to business partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
Resolves conflicts/issues of medium complexity and escalates others as appropriate.
Development & Coaching
May act as team leader.
Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff.
Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.
Education/Experience (to enter position)
Professional with experience on applications with multiple functions

Requirements methods: interviewing, data modeling, business process modeling, business object modeling and user interface design
Different requirement methodologies: methodology of Object Orientation, Use Cases, Unified Modeling Language, iterative methodologies like RUP and traditional waterfall approach
