Very interesting post jim.   It reminds of the talk of Jeff Sinclair on " The Emotions of skiing".  You made a very good description of it from the skier's point of view.

Thi s is his new talk this year at the CSIA convention.  I thought it was quite clever to recognize that when teaching students to try to understand the emotions of the students and to use the appropriate pedagogy recognizing the emotion of the learner.
